Disclaimer
Therapy is a supportive and collaborative process intended to enhance emotional wellbeing, self-understanding, and coping. By engaging in therapy services, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
Nature of Services
The services offered are limited to counselling and psychotherapy and do not include medical advice, diagnosis, or psychiatric treatment.
Therapy can complement medical or psychiatric care but is not a substitute for it. If needed, you are encouraged to seek support from a qualified medical or mental health professional.
Process & Outcomes
Therapy is a personal process, and outcomes can vary from person to person. While many people find therapy helpful, specific results cannot be guaranteed.
At times, therapy may involve exploring difficult emotions or experiences, which can feel uncomfortable or intense. This is often a natural part of the process and can be worked through within sessions.
Client Responsibility
Clients—and parents or guardians in the case of minors—remain responsible for their overall wellbeing. This includes:
- Seeking medical or psychiatric care where required
- Taking appropriate steps if there are concerns about safety or health
- Communicating openly about any concerns that arise during therapy
Working with Children & Adolescents
Therapy for individuals under 18 is conducted with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Confidentiality is an important part of the therapeutic process for children and adolescents, as it supports trust and openness. At the same time, parents/guardians may be involved in a manner that supports the young person’s wellbeing. If there are serious concerns about safety, appropriate steps will be taken.
Confidentiality
All sessions are held in confidence and guided by professional ethical standards and applicable laws.
Confidentiality may be limited in situations where:
- There is a risk of harm to yourself or others
- There is concern about abuse or neglect
- Disclosure is required by law
In such cases, only necessary information will be shared, and where possible, this will be discussed with you.
Collaboration with Other Professionals
With your consent, therapy may involve coordination with psychiatrists, doctors, or other professionals to support your care.
Limitation of Responsibility
While care and professional standards are maintained, the therapist cannot be held responsible for:
- Decisions or actions taken by clients outside of sessions
- The course or outcome of personal, medical, or psychiatric conditions
- Situations where additional professional or emergency support is required
If you have any questions or concerns about therapy, you are encouraged to discuss them openly. A shared understanding helps create a safe and effective therapeutic space.
